The Big Day

A man driving a Volkswagen, Ethan, was racing to get to this church where a wedding was taking place. In the beginning of the commercial the bride, Kitty, was getting ready and anxiously checking the time and the window. The bride was getting married to a different man, Greyson, and Ethan was trying to stop the wedding! He raced to the church in his super sleek car, but i could't tell if he was too late or not.

Who
The man driving the car
What

A wedding he was late too
Where

A church/on the road
When

Durring the day
Why

The man wanted to stop the marriage
How

By showing up at the church and seeing the girl

It is gloomy outside and the cars windshield wipers are at work due to the heavy rain. Ethan passes through a forest, a bridge over an ocean or huge lake, and through country grass lands.

Towards the middle, the man trying to stop the wedding, Ethan, is such an emotional wreck! He is speeding down highways and bridges, trying to stop the wedding of his dream girl. Kitty, although she is getting ready for her wedding, seems to waiting and wanting for Ethan to come. The father seems to notice this, and becomes anxious too.

"Of course I'm excited to be married," Kitty explains to her dad, "I'm…I think I'm just nervous if it's too soon or too rushed," (Kitty).

Ethan was a mad man. He was going 80mph in a 60mph speed limit! He was sweating like crazy and seemed to be hitting every red light, just his luck.

"Of course I was in a rush!" Ethan said when asked if he was in a hurry, "The girl I love was being wed to a man I hate." (Ethan).

The wedding was taking place, and Ethan crashed into the church. All eyes were on him, and he gulped.
Kitty and Greyson are standing in the alter. Kitty and Ethan make eye contact and an uneasy wave of relief and sorrow fill the room. Greyson seems to have expected Ethan's appearance at the wedding and is not happy about it.
"I had no idea of what I was going to do, or say really. I just knew that I wanted her, and I wanted to stop the wedding." (Ethan).

1.) Summarize what you watched and read about - let's say 2-3 paragraphs of 3-4 sentences

I learned that in iMovie you can capture film and merge video's together to create a final project. I am very familiar with the program and feel confident going into it, but still learned new things. I noticed that you can edit your clips and insert text or audio.

It was cool that you can make stop motion films on iMovie with dragging images together. The timeline is a very cool and useful tool that is used when making a film. You can change the way it looks, but the function will always be the same.

2.) Tell me one thing that you already knew about iMovie that the website explained
I already knew that you can merge videos together in the timeline.

3.) Tell me one thing that you learned new today that you didn’t know before.
I learned that you can make stop motion films by having your pre capture film and capturing new film on top of that.

4.) What are you concerned about with this final project?
I am concerned/confused…are we supposed to make a video or just pictures??
5.) What are you confident you can complete early and have ready to use?
I am confident I can get amazing pictures done on time.

6.) If I asked you today, what do you think you will do for your video?
Well, I have 3 ideas.
I am going to the iHeart Radio Country Music Festival and I think I could get some awesome pictures from that.
I could also document my older sister Madison going to the hospital to get her monthly infusion.
I could shoot the daily life of my dad, at work or just being a dad at home.
Or I could shoot a day at the pool of my family and friend sat the pool/blue hole.

Judges comments 1-6

Agree: I agree with th judges that the woman being hit with the duck has a shock factor that looks really hard to photograph.

Disagree: I don't think the sumo wrestler on the escalator is that impressive. I don't think it should've been considered, it seemed a little posed and more of a safety shot.

Baltimore, Maryland riot

If I was a photographer during the Baltimore, Maryland riot I would be scared, but excited and willing to document history. I would be battling myself between taking photo's or helping the situation. To be honest, I would be very confused of who to help. I would be confused about what is going on and how to stop the commotion.

Judges Ananlysis--how judges pick winning portfolios and sports photos

I was absent this day and am doing this from home, my audio wouldn't play in the student portfolio's so I did the best that I could. Sorry! I will finish this up on Monday. - Kitty Lee

Jordan Murph- Focus of photo's were on sports.
Judges likes: Lighting was good, images were clear and most of them were money shots
Judges dislikes: Some photo's were too artificial, and the lighting was basic, "fake shadows"
First impression: I think his photos are beautiful, yet a little safe in way. They all look wonderful, but some of them are very...common I guess you could say.

Alyssa Shukar- Focus of photo's were on telling a story
Judges likes: Good stroy idea
Judges dislikes: Need more close ups, not enough strong singles, lighting was too dark
First impression: I thought her photo's were rare. They make you feel something and pause the portfolio video, just to look at it a little longer. Her photo's were moving and deep.

Travis Haughton- Focus of photo's were on telling a story through one or very few pictures.
Judges likes: sweet images, nice to look at, nice angles
Judges dislikes: Focus of photo's was off sometimes, merging, posed images, basic, grainy
First impression: I thought his pictures were sweet and touching. They were full of emotion and/or action. Love them!

a. What did the judges note as strengths as they were critiquing it?
Good viewpoints
b. What do you see as strengths? Do you see any weaknesses?

I think what she is actually taking pictures of is her weak point, it's not something you can make the interesting and can be repetitive. I like her use of color and lighting
His strengths are capturing moments of emotion, players reactions. His weakness, if any because his pictures were amazing, would be the fact that some of his pictures looked a little repedative.

3. Watch the contest recap video at the very bottom.

a. Briefly describe the process the judges went through in deciding the winner.

If a portfolio was too 1 demintional, or focused too much on one color/feeling/mood then it couldn't compare to one that had a more "alive" portfolio. The judges went through and discarded the one's that didn't make them feel something, or that had images that didn't make sense in comparison to the rest of the images.
