What? A teacher has cancer and his wife is stepping in while he's away.

Why? Theater tech teacher had a tumor, and now cancer! The community and past students are now banning together to help support him and his family. 
How? The wife is subbing for his class, community members are reaching out to him, and contributing to the Gomez family.

What quote was the strongest in your opinion? The daughters quote very touching and eye opening and encouraging.

The article was very tender and serious in a certain way. It was about a teacher here at Bowie, who has cancer. He has to be out due to unsuccessful surgeries so his wife is stepping in and subbing for his classes. His daughter and wife both agree that the help and support from their community is making things easier for everybody.

What quote was the strongest in your opinion? Mr. Garcia's quote was the strongest because he gave an adults point of view that made a lot of sense.

Teens are not sure how to feel about dating, though those in relationships have a lot to say. They list the top 10 things to do on a first date.

The Bowie High School marching Band traveled all the way to London, England to preform in the amazing nNew Years Day Parade. They've worked very hard for this and were very excited!

Why? The Bowie Boys soccer team kicks of their season with a win due to hard work!

The Bowie Boys Soccer team has been practicing very hard and kicked off their season to a great season and won the game! They have ,amy supporters and fans, and their coaches are very proud! Every team member is holding their own weight and really want to get better, I am proud to say Bowie has such an awesome soccer team and program!

Why? It is very addicting and hard!
How? You challenge your friends to a trivia off; it asks you crazy and bizarre questions from 6 topics; and you slowly get a character for each topic and the winner gets bragging rights.

What quote was the strongest in your opinion? "Trivia Crack spread through the school like a wildfire." Anagnos.

Trivia Crack is an addicting app on the iPhone that lets you challenge friends and your own mental abilities. It quickly spread through and gained popularity in high schools all over Bowie, especially Bowie. Trivia Crack is literally what it sounds like, trivia that's fin and addicting, like crack. (not that crack is good or anything). Coming from a student who has the app, I can agree with Anagnos.

How? They feel that men only treat you right if you're skinny and pretty.

I am nor a feminist or a menist, though this article can convince one to be a feminist. As women, we are very proud

Other High School's newspapers

  1. What is your favorite newspaper front page? Why? The Summers guide. The colors are so sweet and Summery…it makes me want to head down to the beach and eat one of these popsicles! It has a very happy vibe. 
  2. Which paper immediately grabbed your interest? Why? The Native newspaper caught my eye right away! It is a cool crazy pattern that none of the other newspapers have, and also the picture is of my favorite thing in the world: cookies!!!! It looks really interesting!
  3. What is your favorite headline from that newspaper? Why are you interested in it? Plants Vs. People. I think it's a funny headline, comparing plant to people! It grabs my attention and confuses me a little s well. 
  4. How many stories are on the front page of your favorite? None! 
  5. What do you notice that all newspaper front pages have in common? Look at design, size of photos, size of story text, etc. All of the newspapers have big sections on the student body and their achievements and their opinions on things. Also all the newspapers have a continuous theme. 
  6. What are things that vary (or are different) on the front pages of different newspapers? Look at design, size of photos, size of headlines, etc. Some newspapers have more or less text and quotes from people than others, also some newspapers have big and huge pictures that grab your attention or fun colors splashed on the pages. 
  7. Were these similar to what you saw last class when you looked at daily newspapers from around the world? They looked pretty similar, but I liked the high school one's better.

  1. What is your favorite newspaper front page? Why? 

My favorite newspaper front was Paris, France because it was talking about emoji's and I think emoji's are super fun and cute!

      2. What is your favorite headline from that newspaper? Why are you interested in it? 

At their Service; from NewYork, New York. I like how the headlines are on top of the silver platter, it makes the newspaper look very appetizing and interesting. 

  1. How many stories are on the front page of your favorite? There are no stories on the front page of my favorite headline, just the headline and brief description of what's to come in this article. 
  2. What do you notice that all newspaper front pages have in common? Look at design, size of photos, size of story text, etc.All of the newspaper tend to make your focus be on the text rather than the images. The images look almost as if they are an after thought, and are just there to add a little something. Also, the text box's are much larger than the images. 
  3. What are things that vary (or are different) on the front pages of different newspapers? Look at design, size of photos, size of headlines, etc. Some newspapers have more or less pictures than others, and some newspapers have very serious topics while some are more fun and kid friendly. Some newspapers have married the text to the images, others have separated the two elements.
